Jeremiah 32:27 Behold I am the Lord of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?
The Lord your God who goes before you will fight for you.” {Deuteronomy 1:30}
David came to the battlefield with a thundering YES in his heart. He had confidence and assurance in his God. He wouldn’t let the criticism of his eldest brother Eliab detour or belittle him. Furthermore, he wasn’t going to let Saul’s armor constrain him. Nor would he allow the size of the giant to frighten him. David knew he had a Giant size, God! David said, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God? “
Last week, we quoted Jeremiah 32:27 Behold I am the Lord of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me? God is asking that question. Most of us believe there is nothing too complicated for God. Some question if God will provide a victory for them. Before entering giant battles, we must believe God will fight for us. There must be a resounding yes in our hearts. We believe the Lord will give us the strength and confidence to overcome our giant. Saying yes to God gives us the faith and perseverance to pursue the enemy and slay the giant in our lives.
I told you last week about the construction company that put a lien on our home for $77,000, and we couldn’t go forward until the lien was removed. We know about giants who seem to be about to overpower and subdue you. Well, God gave us the strategy and the plan. We knew we needed to do our part. We did what we could do in the natural, and God did His supernatural. The lien was removed entirely, and we didn’t pay them a penny!
In 1 Samuel 17:32, David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on the accountant of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him. No matter how giant your Goliath is, you are not alone. You are never alone. Your fight is not yours alone. You put your natural to it, and God will put His Super to it. David picked up five smooth stones, and the Lord put the force and strength behind David’s throw and knocked the giant entirely out.
David trusted God, but he still picked up five smooth stones. This shows that God will help us slay the giants, but we have to show him that we are willing to do what we can do.
We can’t lose heart in the face of our giant. We must be willing to fight and not bury our heads in the sand. David was incapable of meeting Goliath’s strength, size, and power. David knew he had an all-powerful God.
Trials and difficult situations are facts of life. When we find ourselves facing giants – problems that seem overwhelming to us, these could be problems at home, work, relationships, or other difficult circumstances. Don’t lose heart. David’s faith in God caused him to look at the giant from a different perspective. Goliath was merely a mortal man defying an all-powerful God. David looked at the battle from God’s point of view.
Beloved, Look at your battle from God’s point of view!
Let’s Pray
Dear God, we believe that there is nothing too complicated for you. We ask you to help us be strong in you and the power of your might. Please show us what is already in our hands as you help us defeat our giant. We won’t listen to the taunts and criticism of the enemy. We know YOU are willing and able to bring us complete victory! Amen.
